[member_desc_sub]Our History[/member_desc_sub]Batemans Bay & Moruya District Funerals is a family owned and run business. The Hewson family have been serving the Eurobodalla Shire for over 40 years by providing a personal caring service from their family to your family.

Batemans Bay Funerals was established in 1984 by Sid Hewson who started as a funeral director in Goulburn in 1958. After developing a love for the Batemans Bay area while holidaying, Sid opened an agency in 1969.

Having sold his Goulburn Funeral Home in 1984, Sid moved to the South Coast where together with his son Mark, they developed Batemans Bay Funerals.

In 1987 Mark took over the management of the family business and together with his wife Marlene, continued to develop Batemans Bay Funerals. Within 12 months, Parker’s Coastal Funerals and Heads Funerals in Moruya had been purchased and a new Funeral Office and Chapel set up in Narooma giving Batemans Bay Funerals offices in 3 towns – Batemans Bay, Moruya and Narooma.

Batemans Bay Funerals expanded further in 2000 with the creation of Eurobodalla Ladies Funerals, providing the Eurobodalla Shire with an “all ladies” funeral service led by Marlene.

Following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father, Robert began working in the family business from a young age and was later joined by his wife Tracey.

Mark, Marlene, Robert and Tracey together with their dedicated team of caring staff at Batemans Bay & Moruya District Funerals pride themselves on offering the best possible service to the community by understanding family’s needs as one family to another family.

[member_desc]Lions Australia has a proud history of achievement in Disaster and Emergency Relief, Medical Research and Community Service. We were at the coalface for Cyclone Tracy, the Black Saturday bushfires and the Queensland floods.

We were involved with the development of the bionic ear and the cervical cancer vaccine Gardisil. We also inspired a young Fred Hollows and continue to provide funding for a range of other research initiatives involving diabetes and autism.

We assist with local community fundraising for special causes and help with development and building of local parks, community venues and sporting centres.
